Crow Wing Power is pleased to welcome Michael McDaid as the new director representing District 2B. McDaid fills the board seat previously held by Gert Roggenkamp, who retired after years of dedicated service to the Cooperative and its members. Crow Wing Power thanks Roggenkamp for her commitment and contributions and looks forward to McDaid’s leadership as he begins his service on the Board of Directors.

McDaid attended his first board meeting in April 2026 and brings a wealth of leadership, governance, and business experience to the role. He currently serves as supervisor for Pelican Township, secretary of the Lakes and Rivers Alliance (LARA) board, and a board member of the Pelican Lake Association. His involvement in these organizations reflects a strong commitment to community stewardship, collaboration, and responsible decision-making. Professionally, McDaid is a retired executive from IBM and former partner with Ernst & Young. Throughout his career, he gained extensive experience in strategic planning, financial systems, risk management, and organizational leadership. He is passionate about the cooperative model and the important role local electric cooperatives play in supporting the communities they serve. “My goal is simple: listen to our members, ask thoughtful questions, and help make decisions that serve the long-term interests of the Cooperative,” said McDaid. “I am honored and grateful for the opportunity to serve the members of Crow Wing Power. In my short time on the Board, I have been impressed by the Cooperative’s commitment to reliability, financial stewardship, and member service. I look forward to working with my fellow directors and the leadership team to help ensure Crow Wing Power continues to meet the needs of our growing communities while maintaining the values that have made the Cooperative successful for generations.”

As part of a bylaw change approved by members in 2025, McDaid and fellow directors are currently pursuing the Credentialed Cooperative Director (CCD) program through the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association. The CCD program consists of five courses focused on governance fundamentals and the essential skills required of cooperative directors. This training helps directors fulfill their fiduciary responsibilities and ensures they are well prepared to serve the best interests of Crow Wing Power’s membership.
