Crow Wing Power will only be offering the Dual Energy Furnace, for a short time during 2008. It's a complete electric and gas forced-air furnace for use in our Dual Fuel electric rate program.
This furnace is an all-in-one package. Prior to this, homeowners had to purchase a separate electric plenum heater and then have it installed in an existing or new forced air gas furnace to qualify for a Dual Fuel electric rate. Now you can purchase this special furnace with all the electric and gas components included.
Homeowners can save a lot of money with the controlled Dual Fuel heating program. To participate, you need an electric heating system that is backed by a duplicate gas system. Normally, the electric system will provide 100% of the heating for your home. When demand for electricity is high, the electric heating is automatically shut down by radio remote control. During these control times, your back-up (gas) heating system automatically takes over.
Dual Fuel electric heat is metered at only 4.3 cents/kWh. This is also much cheaper than normal propane, natural gas or fuel oil prices; saving you hundreds of dollars each year.
