Pollinator Garden Taking Shape

The Loren Thompson Park Pollinator Garden is beginning to take shape.Pollinator Garden Photo 1

Ken Lueken, Master Naturalist, has marked the areas where the sod was removed and black dirt hauled in and the first load of mulch from Harbo Mulch was added so the physical contours are now visible. We also did some field repairs on the sign and were able to get this standing again

Pollinator Garden Photo 2Thank you, Roy Rauen, of the Baxter Parks and Trails, for supplying the machinery, manpower and dirt to do all this at a marked cost savings.

In the upcoming weeks, weather permitting, some benches and trash receptacles will be set in place along with some initial plantings.

Once all this is accomplished this fall, next spring we can proceed with more plantings and installing pavers and retaining walls.Pollinator Garden Photo 3

This should attract some pollinators (butterflies, bees, etc) right away, along with the public.Pollinator Garden Photo 4
