This year in May, we returned over $527,000 by mailing 12,087 capital credit checks to members. Those dollars reflect the returns on electric use and margins from the energy used during 50% of 1986. The total returned in the past 15 years is about $10.8 million. The benefits of cooperative ownership are obvious when margins like these are returned to the customer/owner.
Each year profits margins over and above our operating costs are allocated to our members' accounts in relation to the amount of electricity they use. When the financial position of the cooperative allows, the board directs the distribution of those credits in the form of cash.
