February was quite the month for me—I embarked on a mission to delve into the world of Pole Testing. And let me tell you, I inadvertently chose the coldest day of the entire year to do it! But frostbite aside, what I discovered was nothing short of fascinating.
Previously, Crow Wing Power used to subcontract pole testing to external companies. Picture this: contractors drilling hefty holes into poles, conducting tests, and then sending reports back. But guess what? We've since brought this process in-house, and it's revolutionized the game!
Now, our Staking Engineers wield the PD500 loaded with software, a nifty tool that drills tiny holes into poles with precision, providing instant health assessments. The data seamlessly syncs to our iPads, complete with a mapping system that catalogs each tested pole, ensuring efficient inventory management.
Beyond the impressive technological advancements, what truly captivated me was the enthusiasm exuded by our staking engineers. Their genuine delight in showcasing their expertise and cutting-edge equipment was palpable. Moreover, the seamless integration of this updated technology not only enhances their efficiency but also underscores their commitment to getting the job done right.
